There is No Gain in Living a Fake Life

"It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.” - Andre Gide

Sometimes ago, a client in my office was talking to someone I thought to be a close friend in the same association with her on phone. He owns a school, from her discussion, they are about to elect another set of the executive which she was appointed to be one of the aspirants. A line in her discussion was, “to be successful, you should be ready for criticism, I mean lots of it; because, no one ever creates time to talk about someone going nowhere.”

There is no secret in your step; it is only a matter of time. “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.”- John Lennon. If you are truly busy, you will have no time left to bother about what people are saying about you.

William W. Purkey took it further by saying “You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching.” My people (Yoruba) will say, “Eni ti anwo kii woran” – Someone that attracts attention cannot be looking at the same time. Stephen King believes you either “Get busy living or get busy dying.” We are all busy anyway; you are either busy creating attention or busy watching or talking about those who are busy creating attraction. The two groups are going to somewhere, it’s your life, chose your favourite.

The scenario could be just the way William Shakespeare thinks about it “We know what we are, but know not what we may become.” But Green Goblin says, “We are who we choose to be.” Both have a point, we choose but no one can proudly say this is the end. Every minute in life is a reality, why wasting time faking your living.

Life is about what you dream about it, not what people think or talk about you.

Never give up.
